A Graceful Descent

On my list of top ten things in the world, ever (the ten, in this circumstance, may or may not be raised to the power of 50) is when somebody drops you a little tipoff in the direction of something they know was put on this earth especially for you. The other day, I received such a little note, and have sort of been buzzing with anticipation ever since. Allow me to introduce you to my favorite film I haven’t seen yet of all time:

Oh, so what you’re saying is that there’s this movie, right, and it has duel intertwining and reimagined narratives, explorations on cognition and storytelling, historically and theologically reappropriated characters, wild mysticism, inappropriate sexual tension, orientalism, mythological schizophrenia, Invisible Cities-scapes, magical realism, deleriously supersaturated cinematography, not a single computer generated special effect, and oh yeah, yes, it’s set in a fucking deserted LA hospital in 1915. Do I even really need to see it before I can announce it’s ascendence to the throne of BEST FUCKING MOVIE EVER MADE?
